This worksheet can be used within an RE topic on Creation Stories. I created a Venn diagram for children to compare the creation stories of the Hindu and Christian religions. Some children will be able to do this without the prompts at the side but I have included them for the lower ability children.

I created this map so that children can look at the different locations and the nearby physical features in order to decide which location would be best for building a settlement. I also created a worksheet that provides more structure when asking children to consider each location.

As part of a Year 3 Geography Topic on 'Our Local Area', I took my class on a walk around the local streets. Whilst walking, most children used a key to colour the buildings on a map, identifying the land use (e.g. commercial, residential, educational, recreational etc.). However, this wasn't suitable for the lower ability children in my class so I gave them pictures of different buildings and they had to tally how many of each type of building they saw. When they returned to class, they could then cut out pictures of the different buildings in order to make their own pictogram. These pictures and the pictogram template are included in this pack.

I created these resources while teaching the Year 3 history topic, 'The Stone Age'. The aim of this lesson was to be able to identify problems and challenges faced by Stone Age people. During the first part of this lesson, the class were split into boys and girls. Each group explored the school grounds with an adult. Scattered around the premises were Problem Cards (included in this pack) explaining various dilemmas that Stone Age men and women would have dealt with. The children loved this activity and when they returned to class, they were able to discuss the similarities and differences between the lives of Stone Age men and Stone Age women. Most children then wrote a diary entry from the point of view of a Stone Age person, explaining the problems they had faced, how it would have made them feel and how they would have dealt with them. The lower ability children used the other resource in this pack and they began by sorting Stone Age problems and Modern Day problems.

Every two years, our school puts on a Summer Carnival where each year group gives a performance based around a different country. Last year, Year 3's country was Japan. The children learnt how to sing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' in Japanese. They also performed a contemporary dance and wore traditional Japanese clothes and accessories. It was a fantastic event and the children loved every minute of it. I have uploaded the lyrics in case you would like to try something similar at your school. In this Science lesson, children consider which foods are best for growth and muscle reparation (proteins) and which foods are best for giving us energy (carbohydrates). One of the activities asks children to sort different foods into a table, deciding whether they are best for growth or activity. They then create a diet for an athlete and a diet for a child using what they have learnt. They should be able to explain why they have chosen the foods they have as well as explaining the differences between the two diets.

As part of our topic on 'Modern Britain', my Year 3 class created leaflets for tourists explaining some of the things they had learnt about Britain. There are three different leaflets included in this pack. The first is a blank trifold leaflet with lines which my higher ability group used. The second is another trifold leaflet, this time with subheadings given. The third is a simpler template for lower ability children, again with subheadings given.

Used when teaching about food groups and healthy eating. This could be during a science lesson or a cooking lesson. The children are given the main sheet split into the 5 food groups (carbohydrates, proteins, fruit and vegetables, fats and sugars, dairy). There are examples of different foods on the sheet to support them. They must then cut out the foods on the additional sheet and sort them into the correct food groups.
